Title: KCA Community Meeting
Location: Kihei Community Center
Description: Monthly Meeting for the public to concerning the mayor’s budget for the new fiscal year, where KCA will seek input from the community for high priority items to be included.

Is Maui a perfect paradise? If not, what changes would you make, and what do you want to protect from change? Here’s your chance to influence what happens. Join with your neighbors on Tuesday, 1/20/09 to share your concerns, so they may have input in the KCA’s presentation to Mayor Tavares for inclusion, as she develops the new year’s budget to be presented to the new County Council.

Offer your comments in citizen groups at the Community Center, when doors open at 6:00 PM, to talk story with neighbors before 6:30 PM start. Call 879-5390

Help our less fortunate residents with a canned food donation for the Maui Food Bank, help our environment with a free reusable cloth grocery bag made of recycled materials, simply by agreeing to use it for groceries, and help our south side by deciding what we want included in the Mayor’s County budget this year. “This is the way the KCA wants to better our Island,” says VP Mike Moran, and we need you to be a part of it. Thanks to the County’s Environmental Department for donating the cloth bags for distribution.”

KCA Meeting Tuesday 11/18: Final Meeting of 2008

This last meeting of 2008 began with president Jon Miller announcing the resounding success of our community Luau on Nov 1, before introducing the compact list of board candidates for 2009, Andrew Beerer, Joe Bertram III, Don Couch, Michael DiBella, Mike Moran, Robert Pickering and Bob Richardson to join him moving forward. The candidates were elected unanimously by the community members.

Jon then introduced Director of Transportation Don Medeiros who presented a power point on proposed bus stop shelters for selected locations among the 170 present bus stops, mostly based on the volume, indicating the first one may be completed by the beginning of 2010.

KCA Community Meeting Tuesday 10/21: Candidate Forum in South Maui

Title: KCA Community Meeting: Candidate Forum in South Maui
Location: Kihei Community Center
Description: We all observed the dismal lack of voting in the primary election last month, but here is our opportunity to direct our government, by selecting the best candidate for each office,” said KCA VP Mike Moran. “Join with us on Tuesday evening to query each candidate face to face on any relevant topic at the Kihei Community Association’s public monthly meeting.” Again following the “speed dating” concept that was used for primary candidates in the September meeting, community members will be seated in groups, while the pairs of candidates for each county and state office will walk among them to offer timed answers to various inquiries.

Bring your questions and comments to the Community Center on Lipoa Rd, next to the swimming pool. Doors open at 6:00 PM, for talk story with neighbors before meeting kicks off at 6:30 PM sharp. Make Kihei a better place to live and visit by participating with your community every month. In this difficult economic time, please remember some non-perishable food for the Maui Food Bank. Also, learn about the KCA’s community Luau on the evening of November 1.
